Pacifica Family Photography on 35mm film
There is something quintessentially Northern California about Pacifica.
The weather rarely does what you expect. One moment the ocean is calm, the next the wind is whipping across the sand and the waves are crashing against the shoreline. Yet on any given day you'll still find families bundled in sweaters and puffer jackets, dogs chasing tennis balls, surfers paddling into icy water, and children digging happily in the sand.
That's exactly why I love photographing families here.
When I first met this sweet family earlier in the year, we were tucked inside their home documenting the quiet, sleepy days of life with a newborn. Six months later, we found ourselves standing on Pacifica State Beach with a baby bundled into the puffiest little jacket, taking in the ocean for what felt like the very first time.
Watching babies experience the world is one of my favorite parts of being a family photographer.
Everything is new.
The wind on their cheeks.
The sound of the waves.
