An Adventurous Destination Wedding in the South of France

Some weddings are remembered for their beauty.

Others are remembered for how they made people feel.

This celebration at Domaine du Clos d'Hullias, a centuries-old château in the south of France, was unmistakably both.

These two Northern Californians have always shared a love of travel and wanted their wedding to feel less like a single day and more like a shared adventure with the people they love most. They invited just 35 of their closest family and friends to join them in the French countryside, creating a celebration that felt deeply personal from beginning to end.

Every detail reflected who they are.

They thoughtfully partnered with many local vendors, prioritized incredible food and wine, and designed a weekend that encouraged guests to slow down, explore, and truly experience the place they'd chosen. Even before everyone arrived, they mailed beautifully designed pocket guides filled with travel tips and weekend details—a small gesture that perfectly captured the care they poured into every part of the celebration.

What impressed me most wasn't the château (although it was spectacular).

It was the way these two approached the entire experience as a team. Their planning was thoughtful, organized, and rooted in generosity. They weren't simply hosting a wedding—they were welcoming their favorite people into one of their greatest adventures.

Years from now, I imagine their guests won't just remember the beautiful views or the incredible meal.

They'll remember gathering around long tables in the French countryside, celebrating beneath centuries-old stone walls, and witnessing two people begin their marriage exactly the way they've chosen to live it: intentionally, joyfully, and together.

Big time credit to all the great vendors involved in this big magic!
